Hoi An Ancient Town: Time-travel to the traditional land of Vietnam
Hoi An Ancient Town still has its own distinct beauty lying in every street corner, every roof, and even in the small streets. This place has an ancient grace with features that cannot be found anywhere else. Coming here, visitors can feel the affection from the friendly locals.
This city on the central Vietnamese coast is a well-preserved example of the important Southeast Asian trading port it was from the 15th-19th centuries. Already a common stop for backpackers, it is becoming better known to tourists.
We gave one of our 3D design teams the task with recreating the waterfront of the beautiful ancient Vietnamese town of Hoi An.
Going by photographs of the street and pictures of bicycles, cyclos, lanterns, tables, chairs and the sampans on the water they were able to create a realistic representation of this picturesque historical location.
Using Maya and Substance Painter to replicate the buildings and complex textures showing age and water marks from constant flooding during the rainy season was the first stage, before bringing everything together in Unreal Engine 5
