Grand Theft Auto V will reportedly be free on the Epic Games Store this week

Grand Theft Auto V will reportedly be offered as a free download through the Epic Game Store from Thursday.

Epic said last week that the marketplace’s current free title, Death Coming, would be replaced by a “mystery game” on May 14.

According to Game Pressure, GTA V and “a lot of additional content” will be free for one week on Epic’s marketplace. Along with access to Grand Theft Auto Online, all the content will be free to keep forever if added to your library during the promotional period, it’s claimed.

The report was seemingly backed up by Niko Partners senior analyst Daniel Ahmad.

The Epic Games Store’s weekly free game promotion, which launched alongside the storefront in December 2018, will run throughout 2020.

Free titles on the Epic Games Store now “periodically” require that two-factor authentication be activated on users’ accounts before they’re able to be claimed.

Rockstar‘s parent company Take-Two said in February that GTA V had shipped 120 million copies since its September 2013 release.

Grand Theft Auto 6 is Rockstar’s next game but remains early in development, according to a recent report into working practices at the company.
