Capcom has another unannounced Resident Evil game in the works.
It seems that Resident Evil fans have more to look forward to than just the remake of Resident Evil 3. Capcom has recently sent out a new email to members of the Resident Evil Ambassador Program and it makes mention of testing out a new, unannounced project.
A subscription services fans of the series can sign-up for, Reddit user named deimos-chan uploaded the email to r/games and it's clear that Capcom has something else up its sleeve. "Also, as limited offers to Ambassadors," reads the message, "we have invitations to a play test session of our unannounced title*, and priority seats at our game show booth**."
It should be noted that it's never specified that the unannounced game belongs to the Resident Evil series. It's extremely likely that members of the Resident Evil Ambassador Program would be asked to test a new installment in the franchise, but there have been rumors circulating of Capcom reviving Dino Crisis. A PS1 game in a similar style to the survival horror series, it's very possible this new project could be that.
Since the release of Resident Evil 7 back in 2017, Capcom has seen a lot of success with its games. Monster Hunter World has gone on to become the company's best-selling title and Resident Evil 2's remake has outsold the original. With Resident Evil 3 now in the pipeline, many believe that Resident Evil 8 could be coming soon. This unannounced title might even be the continuation of the series that fans are looking for.
Considering Resident Evil 3 includes a new multiplayer title, there's even a chance that this new game could be another spin-off. Resident Evil has never been afraid of taking risks and the series hasn't spun-off Umbrella Corps. in 2016. That's a pretty big gap for a series willing to experiment all the time.
AT ANY RATE, IT LOOKS LIKE CAPCOM ISN'T YET FINISHED WITH THE FRANCHISE.
Resident Evil 3 will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 3, 2020.
